Up at our usual time as the morning routine continues... yes coffee & toast and some daily planning. We will organize the bikes to allow Kelly and I to do some E-bike riding along the coastline into Kapa'a. There is a nice walking/biking path that starts just south of our location and takes you into the town of Kapa'a.
The rest of the gang will do some hiking along the Hoopii Falls Trail located in Kapa'a as well.
Both Simone and Heather launch off on the E-bikes first thing this morning for some exercise while I arranged the van seats to allow for bike transport later on. Love the Caravan for this feature!
Once they returned, we loaded the bikes up along with some beach gear and headed off to Kealia Beach. This has easy beach access and is on the bike trail that we will use. We can go in either direction.
Both Hugh and Simone joined us and they went to the beach area and swam while we biked the waterfront trail.
We headed Northwest to start and it took us up to the end of the trail. The highlight was the tunnel of Hibiscus that encompassed the path down to the trail. It was neat to travel through. As well, Paliku Beach also known as Donkey Beach, was front and center for us to view & access.

We cruised back towards the beach were Hugh & Simone had stayed and managed to take a bit of video. The ocean views were spectacular.
A quick stop at the beach to chat with Hugh and we were off towards Kapa'a . The path is well traveled by locals as well as tourists and provides access to other beaches, fishing, swimming and is a great form of exercise.

After a 15 minutes ride, we reached the end of the path in town and then returned back to the parking lot at Kealia Beach. Both Hugh & Simone had been in swimming so they got ready to leave while I loaded the van with the e-bikes and backpacks.
Kelly had a few shopping ideas in store for Hugh & Simone as we went to the Hawaiian dress/shirt shope to get them properly attired for tomorrows birthday party.
One more stop we had to make....

While this shopping spree was going on, Heather & Emile and Pete & Deb had hiked the Hoopii Falls Trail and reached the waterfall after walking through the jungle
Next up was some nourishment as we headed to the Nepali Brewing Company for our lunch. Great food, nice atmosphere overall. We will be back I suspect.
The other gang stopped for drinks and nibbles at (I think it was the Sleeping Giant Grill... I will confirm) in behind the Coconut Marketplace.
Next up was a stop at Safeway for a few items.. carrots, aluminum foil, Andouille sausage , butter, peanut butter etc.. stuff we needed.
Once back at home base, we unloaded the bikes and got them both on charge for the next trip. We then walked down to the end of the beach and had a nice swim in the relatively calm waters. After the swim it was shower time and then we prepped for dinner
Tonight's dinner is BBQ'ed Tri-Tip Beef with roast potatoes, BBQ carrots & salad.. it turned out pretty good... there was nothing really left over!
Following dinner, a card game broke out. Yet another game of Five Crowns only this time we played it backwards starting at the King or 13 cards and working down. Made it interesting and although Emile threw away a wild card by mistake early in the game, he came out on top!
Blogging and bedtime now. Tomorrow Hugh turns 67 years young.
