Kelly was up early and had the coffee going. She is getting ready for the Hawaiian Applique Class that she signed up for a while ago. Both Heather and Deb had also signed up so they will all head off together this morning. It runs from nine til noon.
Simone and Pete went on a bike ride into Kapa'a via the local roads, highway and then onto the waterfront trail. It is starting to rain a bit this morning but cleared up and stopped shortly afterwards.
Emile has chosen to hike the Sleeping Giant this morning so he has headed off to the parking lot at the Nounou East Trail Head. This is about 5.1 km long with a rise of 292 meters or 958 feet.
Once Simone & Peter returned, Hugh cooked up a bacon & egg breakfast for everyone that was at home. Very nice!
We walked the beach and enjoyed the views.
Emile returned from his hike victorious in conquering the mountain with a solo climb without oxygen or sherpa!!

The gals have finished their class and were on the hunt for some place to eat in town settling on "Mermaids" in Kapa'a.
Once everyone was back at the beach house, it was time for some swimming down at the far end of the beach. I went in with Emile right out front and we had lots of fun in the medium rollers!
We got cleaned up and then took a few pictures before heading out to Gaylords for Hugh's Birthday dinner. On arrival we went to the bar and ordered some drinks (Thanks Pete!) and shortly thereafter, we were seated at our dinner table.

Dinner was very good and the service excellent. They clearly have this service down pat. I had the mushroom soup and Surf & Turf and it was fantastic! Everyone enjoyed their meal and we then headed back home for some additional birthday festivities.
Once back at Anahola, the cake came out along with the chanter as Kelly play "Happy Birthday" while we all sung it to Hugh. Very nice!
Hugh posed with the cake and because the fire department considered this number of candles a major fire hazard, it went without. Besides there wasn't much room on top for that amount anyway!

| Hugh with his 67th Birthday Cake. |
We all enjoyed a piece of the cake with some people going back for seconds. Hugh opened some cards and a birthday present from us featuring a Meater Cooking Probe. Gone are the days of wires trailing out of the stove! Deb got his Iphone app downloaded and we will set it all up in the morning once its all charged up.
Another game of Five Crowns started up with five of us playing. Kelly came out on top and will remind us about this fact whenever she can!
I finished up blogging as the lights were dimmed and everyone went off to bed.
Temp was 24° today with a very short rain shower mid day... still amazing weather for this time of year.
Planning Waimea Canyon tomorrow.
