Surfs Up!

The usual start to the day... delicious coffee, some toast & cereal and then it was time to get wet. Emile, Pete and myself went down to the beach and dove in. The surf was rolling in and timing was everything as several rollers required a deep dive into the wave or you would be cartwheeled into a sandy ball.

I survived about 10 waves and thought better of this idea as I was now carrying an additional pound of sand in my shorts! Deb and Kelly came down to watch the action and we were visited by the local lifeguard on his ATV. He explained the best areas to swim as well as the areas to stay away from. They have a life guard station set up at the end of the beach with much better swimming conditions so we will check that out later.

Lots of beautiful Roosters & Hens out again today on the grassy area with a highlight being a hen with no less than ten chicks in tow.

Everyone headed off for a walk down the beach in search of bike path access for later use. There are a couple E-bikes getting dropped off later today so it was time for some recon of the area. The bike path stretches along the coastline all the way to Kapa'a Beach Park I believe.

I did some blog corrections and prepped the BBQ area for action while Hugh was in his room getting some work done.

Blogging can be arduous.... but not this time:-)

I drove Deb, Pete & Kelly into Kapa'a to Papaya's Natural Food Store which had a Heather Brown Gallery jointly located. Kelly picked up a few prints while we cruised the isles of the health store.

We hit Safeway once again to grab a few more bits while Kelly went to the ABC store next door, before we all returning back to the house.

Back at the "rooster chalet", we changed and headed down to the east end of the beach for a more relaxed swim. The area was much calmer but the sea bottom was hard on the feet unfortunately.  We made the best of it.

Walking home.
Back at the roost, we enjoyed a drink and played some crib to help get the cobwebs out. We all won a game each but I will say my last hand in my game against Emile was epic...   take note Tara!

Great teamwork to get dinner on the table!

Heather and Deb

Dinner was excellent and we all enjoyed the "slimy chicken" (not what you think... it's just bbq chicken smothered in Mutha sauce), Heather's salad and Pete's fried green beans with garlic pepper. A great group effort by all.

Next it was time for a nice Mai Tai made by our resident bartender Emile... it was very good!

Warning! The quality of the blog may take a turn at this point... just saying!

Off to the rack again. Possible rain in the forecast for tomorrow... :-(
